Hello,
My name is Olivier Lesage and I'm the creator, developer and promoter of the Wisext tools. Trained as an engineer and architect, I've been interested for many years in the computer-aided design of 3D projects. In 1996, my final year thesis developed the automatic construction of a 3D access ramp according to variable parameters.
Although my professional life has focused on energy issues and consumer protection since the late 90s, I have continued to take an interest in CAD (now extended to BIM) in my spare time.
Philosophy
I expect computers to save time, avoid mistakes and improve communication.
I remain convinced that, just as the architect, town planner or cabinetmaker manages objects in a three-dimensional world, the data managed by the computer must also be in 3D. 3D modelling is not just there to make beautiful images, but also to manage a project effectively.
Wisext project
The widespread availability of SketchUp software, with its astonishing ergonomics and wide-ranging programming possibilities, motivated me to explore the possibilities of managing the data in a 3D model using customised tools.
Launched on the internet in 2012, the Wisext project aims to develop and distribute these tools and to gather the experience and wishes of its users. There is a strong desire to meet others who are passionate about the subject and share ideas with them. The project is also an opportunity to assess the possibility of developing a professional activity in this field.
If you'd like to find out more about this project, don't hesitate to follow its Linkedin page.
Best regards,
Olivier Lesage.
Engineer architect.
Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
Note: the project, carried out solo until now, has been given the name ‘Wisext’, based on my surname (Wise, in English) and the word extension, designating a plugin in SketchUp.
